TV and Other Appearances
My highest-profile appearances have been on NBC Nightly News in late 2009 and in April 2010 (see links to the video clips, below), MSNBC (16 times in 2009), CNN “Live Saturday,” Fox News “America’s News HQ,” and ABC’s “America This Morning.”
Since I moved to London, I’ve done live media hits at ITV studios for MSNBC.

I was a guest on 18 April on MSNBC Live at 8:50 a.m., discussing the recent policy issued by United Airlines that could require overweight people to purchase two airline tickets. On July 14, 2010, I talked on MSNBC about a new law to fight crime on cruise ships.
Fox News: The 22 March 2009 edition of the national cable channel’s America’s News show included a live interview with me in my role as Senior Editor for BudgetTravel.com. The topic? The airfare wars that Southwest kicked off.
The 17 July 2008 edition of ABC’s America This Morning had me on the set live to talk about money-saving tactics in this segment.
I was also a guest on 7 June 2009 on MSNBC Live, talking about great budget travel destinations for summer.
The 10 April 2009 edition of Fox Business national cable TV channel invited me to speak during the 2:00 p.m. hour on the top tips on how to travel during the recession.
I’ve also appeared locally on ABC’s Channel 7 (three times in 2009, such as on “swine flu and travel,” and twice in 2010: including “how to find a last-minute vacation“) and on CW’s Channel 11 (three times in 2009). For example, I was interviewed by the top local station in New York about the swine flu epidemic, which aired on 27 April 2009. On July 5, 2010, I was interviewed on NY1, the local cable news station, about frequent flier miles.
CNBC: I was on CNBC’s Squawk Box “Love for Sail” (download the MP4 file and play in QuickTime or WMA), talking about small cruise lines that offer a more intimate experience than the megaships.
RADIO: I’ve also done recorded segments for Fox and the Peter Greenberg Radio Show, including one in December 2012 about pocket Wi-Fi (at the 12-minute mark) and one earlier in April 2012, when we taped on a Eurostar traveling between London and Paris. Prior to that, I was on Peter Greenberg’s national radio show a half-dozen times, such as a recent segment about a new fee for carry-on bags.
